CSUEU Candidate Endorsements Are Now Online

In advance of the November general election, a complete list of CSUEU-endorsed candidates is now available online.

The CSUEU Board of Directors has also endorsed Prop. 55, which temporarily extends Prop. 30’s personal income tax increases on individual earnings over $250,000 per year to fund K-12 schools, community colleges, and healthcare programs. This revenue will free up other state monies to fund the CSU and social service programs.

Bargaining Survey: Voice Your Concerns

In preparation for contract negotiations that begin early next year, this morning the CSUEU bargaining team unveiled an online survey designed to find out about the concerns of all CSUEU-represented employees.

The survey typically takes less than 10 minutes to complete and is designed to work well with mobile devices.

Please participate so that your union bargaining team can make sure your workplace issues are addressed in negotiations with CSU for our next contract. The current 2014-17 contract expires on June 30, and the next contract goes into effect on July 1, 2017.

Know Your Contract: Article 20 (Salary)

All employees in Bargaining Units 2, 5, 7, and 9 shall receive a General Salary Increase (GSI) in each year of the current 2014-17 contract. For fiscal year 2016-17 and effective July 1, 2016, all bargaining unit employees in active pay status or on leave received individual salary rate increases of two percent. With the implementation of the “Me-Too” clause, all bargaining unit employees received an additional one percent for a total general salary increase of three percent on July 1. Jo Ann Juarez-Salazar to Join Staff as New Executive Director

Starting this August 15, Jo Ann Juarez-Salazar will join the CSUEU staff as executive director, taking over duties from Interim Executive Director Pat Gantt, who has been filling in since last fall in addition to his duties as CSUEU president.

Based at the union’s Sacramento headquarters, Juarez-Salazar’s primary responsibility will be supervising and directing the professional union staff. Other duties include serving as liaison to the Board of Directors, assisting union committees, and implementing the policies and the decisions of the board.

New Contract for Bargaining Unit 13

CSUEU’s Bargaining Unit 13, comprised of English Language Program (ELP) instructors at Cal State L.A., reached a tentative agreement with CSU on July 13 for a new three-year contract. The unit’s contract expired on June 30 and had been extended for one month.

BU 13 members ratified the agreement on July 15, and the CSU Board of Trustees ratified it this past Tuesday, July 19.

The SEIU International Convention is held every four years to set the policy and direction for two million SEIU members. SEIU delegates will elect our International union officers, and establish the goals and strategies to meet the new realities for workers and to build power for working people. Among the guest, two main focal points made an impact on this event.

CSUEU Chapter 322 Scheduled Meeting Dates

Executive Board Meetings are held monthly and are open to CSUEU represented employees.
If you want to be on the agenda please notify the Chapter President at president@csueumb.org at least 72 hours ahead the general meeting date. Note: Certain sections of the board meeting may hold a close session.

Steward Meetings are held once a month. All steward meeting are closed sessions.

Chapter meetings are held once every 3 months. Meeting are open to all represented employees.

The 2016 CSU Fact Book (PDF) is now available. This annual compendium includes key facts about the CSU system’s funding, leadership, student costs, faculty and staff demographics, enrollment, and degrees awarded.

Among this year’s many interesting statistics:

The CSU system now serves 474,571 students—the largest student body in its history—and conferred 105,693 degrees last year.
